This time is very important for the farmers of Uttar Pradesh. The last date for crop insurance for the Kharif season is near. If farmers do not get insurance within the stipulated deadline, then they will not get any kind of compensation in situations like natural disaster, hailstorm, excessive rain, or drought. The main objective of the crop insurance scheme is to provide relief to the farmers from crop loss and make their income stable.
The Uttar Pradesh government has said that the last date for insuring Kharif crops like paddy, jowar, millet, maize, urad, moong, tur, peanuts, soybean, and sesame has been fixed as 31 July 2025. The government has appealed to the farmers to get crop insurance done in time.
Facility of online or offline registration
Farmers can do their crop insurance registration themselves through the online portal. Apart from this, an application can also be made through the nearest bank or Common Service Center (CSC). To get crop insurance, farmers will have to provide an Aadhar card, Khatauni, a bank passbook, and crop details.
Insurance cost
In this scheme, farmers have to pay only a 2 percent premium; the rest of the amount is paid by the state and central government together.
What to do if the crop is damaged
If the crop is damaged due to any reason, then the farmer has to inform the nearest crop insurance center, the agriculture department, or the crop insurance helpline number 14447 within 72 hours. The government says that this scheme is to protect farmers from losses caused by natural disasters. Therefore, it is very important to get it done on time.
