What to Do If Your Flight Is Cancelled or Delayed

Send Push
Flight delays or cancellations are the most annoying thing for a traveller. While a person is dreaming about being at their dream destination in a few hours, the airlines are preparing to crush their dreams, and once you are in that situation, the only emotion you feel is pure anger.
Today, we are going to walk you through the process of what to do when you face a flight cancellation or if your flight is delayed:

Flight Cancellation once you’ve arrived at the airport
If the travellers face a cancellation or if their flight is delayed once they reach the airport, then they should rush to the airline agent’s desk as the refund or a rebooking will be done from there on a first-come, first-served basis.

Call up the helpline of the airline
Travellers should try to contact the airline through the helpline number, as the call centre might help them quicker than the help desk. They can even use social media to their advantage by contacting the airline through X or other platforms.

Try to know the reason
One should try to get to know the reason behind the cancellation or delayed flight, as that would help in knowing if they are eligible to get a refund or not, as in some cases like weather disruptions, airlines do not have to provide a refund or rebooking.

Know your rights
If a flight has been delayed for a long time, then the airline has to give the travellers access to food and drinks, to phone calls and emails, and even accommodation if their flight is delayed overnight and journeys between the airport and the hotel. Travellers might also be given vouchers to buy things at the airport, and if they don’t give them help at the airport, they should keep receipts for expenses and try to claim from the airline later.

File a complaint
If the airline is not helping the passenger, they can file a complaint as the airlines are bound by law to provide some refund or rebooking in these cases.

Know about your connecting flight
If a passenger has booked a connecting flight, then they should try to contact the airline to move their flight as they can no longer make it on time.

Wait at the lounge
For the travellers facing cancellation or delayed flight, they can wait in the lounge area as it has more comfortable seating, a quiet environment, and they have better access to customer service representatives. They can even ask the representative for a complimentary lounge pass if possible.
