Gill, Rahul lead India's fightback to save series
England after posting a mammoth 669 and reduced India to 0/2 in the second innings. Having conceded a lead of 311, India needed a solid start, but Chris Woakes left them reeling with two wickets in the first over.
However, India made a remarkable turnaround with KL Rahul and skipper Shubman Gill holding the fort.
KL Rahul (87*) and Shubman Gill (78*) shifted the tide with an unbeaten stand of 174 runs, helping India reach to 178/2 at stumps on Day 4. Now, as India trail by 133 runs with eight wickets in hand, Gill and Rahul will look to survive the first session.
Both batters are also close to their respective hundreds, and it would be icing on the cake for the two if they can score centuries and save the Test. However , all eyes are on the weather forecast, and it might just be the lifeline Gill and Co. need especially with England bowlers looking dangerous.
