Bhikangaon (Madhya Pradesh): Congress MLA Jhuma Solanki raised serious concerns about Binjalwada Udvahan irrigation project during assembly proceedings on Tuesday.
She questioned why work was assigned to a blacklisted company, with deadlines extended three times, while farmers' fields remain dry.
Solanki criticised the project's execution, stating that while everything appears correct on paper, farmers have not received a single drop of water.
She alleged that the scheme's cost increased by ₹ 100 crores, yet the blacklisted company received another opportunity to complete the work.
The MLA highlighted that despite government claims of 98 per cent completion, no farmer has benefited from the project. When asked for details about beneficiary farmers, officials provided vague responses, claiming the list was in appendices without sharing actual names or field locations.

However, the ground reality tells a different story of empty promises and dry fields.
Solanki directly accused the administration of running an ‘irrigation scam’ rather than a genuine irrigation scheme. She described the situation as gross negligence, particularly regarding decision to rehire the blacklisted contractor.
MLA demanded an independent investigation into the entire project, action against responsible officials and immediate water supply to farmers.
She emphasised that fields cannot be irrigated through paperwork alone, calling for accountability in the project's implementation and delivery of promised benefits to agricultural communities.
