Nicolas Jackson is finally getting his move from Chelsea to Bayern Munich on transfer deadline day. The striker was told to return to west London from Germany on Saturday before being able to complete his medical, but a deal is now going through.
An injury to Liam Delap against Fulham saw Chelsea's interest in an exit for the 24-year-old cool. But Jackson and his representatives were adamant on still getting a deal through and now appear to have been successful. It initially appeared that the Bundesliga champions would need to agree to a permanent deal to sway Chelsea but they have secured an agreement over an option. After initially agreeing a £13m loan fee, an increased payment of the loan of £14.2m has proven enough to get a deal over the line - with the option to make the move permanent next summer for £56.25m remaining in place.
To facilitate the move amid their shortage of forward's following Delap's setback, Chelsea have cancelled Marc Guiu's loan to Sunderland. The 19-year-old had already made three appearances for the Black Cats but now must find his way back at Stamford Bridge. Jackson's move ends a tumultuous 48 hours for the forward, with Chelsea's late U-turn over the initial deal proving 'deeply frustrating'. Jackson's agent Ali Barat released a statement while trying to revitalise the move.

"Nico was ready. Bayern was ready," he said. "We were all aligned on a world-class project. For the agreement to be withdrawn at the final moment is deeply frustrating.
"But we won’t give up. I will fight with everything I have to make sure Nico’s next step reflects his talent, ambition, and the plan we built together. We Hope that Chelsea can cover Liam Delap’s unfortunate injury."
Jackson makes the move to Bayern after spending two seasons with the Blues after joining in a £30m deal from Villarreal. The forward hit the ground running in his first pre-season but became more recognised for his errant shooting in his debut season.

Last term, the Senegal international found his groove to start the season well as he endeded 2024/25 with 10 goals and five assists in 30 appearances. But his final Premier League appearance saw him see red against Newcastle United before he was once again sent-off during the Club World Cup against Flamengo.
Even when Jackson has been available, Enzo Maresca was happy not to make use of his charge. “He is training with us [the first-team squad], but he is not going to be involved," he said.
“You know the situation already. The window transfer is open. He can leave, and we'll see."
