A young beauty queen has tragically died following a devastating motorbike crash on one of Guatemala's most perilous routes.
Alondra Marianela Hernández Pérez, 20, was travelling to work when she suddenly lost control of her motorcycle. The fatal collision happened on the afternoon of August 26 along the treacherous San Marcos-Quetzaltenango road, which is infamous for its alarming accident rate.
Bystanders immediately rushed to assist her and she was transported to hospital in a critical state. Alondra, who was crowned Miss La Blanca in 2024, sadly passed away the next day. Officials have yet to confirm her precise cause of death, though onlookers suspect the beauty queen may have skidded due to the challenging road conditions.

The municipal government said in a statement: "The Departmental Queen of San Marcos mourns the passing of Alondra Marianela Hernández Pérez Miss La Blanca 2024. We send our condolences to her mother and siblings and to her community in La Blanca. Rest in peace."
Alondra had been crowned beauty queen for La Blanca in San Marcos Department in 2024 and was embarking on a bright future when disaster struck.
Heartbroken friends and admirers have shared their profound sympathies and grief on social media. A mate of Alondra wrote: "It is hard to believe that you are gone at the age of 20. Thank you Alondra for the smiles you brought. May you rest in peace."

One heartbroken fan penned on social media: "May her legacy live on forever." Another added: "My deepest condolences to the family." The probe into her tragic death continues.
In June, a bodybuilding beauty queen was found dead in a hotel pool on a family holiday. Police in Mexico say they are not ruling out the possibility of foul play in relation to Luz María Barrera Agatón's death. The gym owner and model was staying with family and friends at the Coco Resort & Villas Hotel in Motul located west of Cancun, a popular holiday destination inMexico.
She had been chatting with loved ones around the swimming pool before they made their way to bed at around midnight, leaving her on her own. When they noticed she was missing, they began to search for her - and found her at the bottom of the pool. The beauty queen's body was retrieved from the water and emergency services were alerted.
