Emmerdale double exit 'sealed' after new evidence as John's fate confirmed

Send Push

Another big twist aired on Emmerdale on Thursday that could tease two big exits from the ITV soap.

John Sugden woke up in hospital and much to his relief, everyone believed his lies about Robert Sugden. Robert was arrested after being accused of attempted murder, after John and his husband Aaron Dingle fell from a cliff.

Robert was set up by John after months of him manipulating villagers, and everyone now thinks Robert pushed the pair into the gorge. In horrifying scenes on Thursday, Robert's torment continued as the police questioned him about the crime he did not commit.

Refusing to hear anything he had to say about John, the police and the villagers all turned on Robert. The accusations continued, only worsening when John was revealed to be awake, confirming he had survived.

Aaron was still in a bad way and in a coma, and things took a dark turn as no one believed John was to blame. So much so, John was supported by Victoria and Chas, and he got left alone with a defenceless Aaron.

As for poor Robert, he was told by the police that his version of events were lies, and they soon revealed John had told them about his previous attack on them. John handed the police a video of Robert hitting him over the head, backing his claims that Robert wanted to hurt him.

Robert wept in a cell as the lead detective informed him that he was being charged with attempted murder and that he needed to be led away. His pleas over his innocence, including to his sister Victoria, were unheard with no one having his back.

Soon enough he was back in prison, making a call to his sister and begging her for help, and to protect Aaron. But she slammed him and again refused to believe him, a deadly mistake.

In that moment Robert realised John was alone with an injured Aaron and he feared the worst. He begged Victoria to go to the room to help but she disowned him before hanging up the phone.

The terror was clear from his face, and he wasn't the only one no doubt panicked given fans also know what John has done. As Aaron remained unconscious, John fumed at him for "ruining everything" and told him he was "sorry" for what he had to do.

He said: "I still love you in spite of everything, but I think it's for the best that you never wake up." So will John kill Aaron, and will Aaron and Robert exit?
