Manchester United are reportedly several million pounds apart from Brentford as negotiations continue over a deal for Bryan Mbeumo. United have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves and are keen to add more firepower in the form of Mbeumo.
The Cameroon international enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, netting 20 Premier League goals in 38 games. In fact, Mbeumo was only outscored by Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland.
United have already had two bids rejected by Brentford and the Athletic are reporting that the gap between both clubs is 'considerable'. The report states that talks are ongoing, but there have been 'no significant developments' and a deal is 'not imminent'.
It's understood that United's offer of a £55million fixed fee plus £7.5m in add-ons falls short of the £65m Brentford want. It's also been claimed that the Bees want all, if not most, of the money paid up front.
The latest development comes after Cameroon's assistant coach, Ashu Cyprian Besong, revealed that Mbeumo has been left "very frustrated" by the situation. "Yes, obviously he's very frustrated with how long it's taken," Besong told Telecom Asia.

"But he's a professional and anticipates these things. I spoke to him about a week ago and he is very calm with everything that is going on. But of course, he's already told them he wants to go to United.
"He just wanted the two clubs to find an agreement, as he's very grateful for the opportunity that he's been given by Brentford in his career."
It is also claimed that Brentford have made an approach for Omari Hutchinson as a potential replacement for Mbeumo. Hutchinson impressed for Ipswich in the Premier League last season and won the Under-21 Euros with England last month.
The report states that the 21-year-old is one of a number of options Brentford are considering and a deal is 'felt to be unlikely at present'. Brentford have already made five major signings this summer, with Michael Kayode's loan move from Fiorentina becoming permanent.
The Bees have also signed goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool to replace Mark Flekken after his move to Bayer Leverkusen, while Romelle Donovan has signed from Birmingham, Antoni Milambo has made the move from Feyenoord and Jordan Henderson has joined on a free transfer.
Along with Flekken's departure, captain Christian Norgaard has been sold to Arsenal in a deal worth around £15m and veteran defender Ben Mee has left on a free transfer after his contract expired.
