Netflix have dropped the first disturbing trailer for the upcoming season of Monster: The Ed Gein Story.
This true crime series continues the popular anthology show created by Ryan Murphy. Now in its third iteration, previous instalments have focused on infamous killers including Jeffrey Dahmer and the Menendez brothers.
The new season will focus on the life and crimes of Ed Gein, with Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam taking on the role.

As the trailer and previously released posters have pointed out, Gein is said to have served as inspiration for some of the most iconic horror movies. This includes Psycho, The Silence of the Lambs and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
According to the synopsis released by Netflix, in the frozen fields of 1950s rural Wisconsin, a friendly, mild-mannered recluse named Eddie Gein lived quietly on a decaying farm. It turns out he was hiding a house of horrors so gruesome it would redefine the American nightmare.
Driven by isolation, psychosis, and an all-consuming obsession with his mother, Gein’s perverse crimes birthed a new kind of monster that would haunt Hollywood for decades.
From Psycho to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to The Silence of the Lambs, Gein’s macabre legacy gave birth to fictional monsters born in his image and ignited a cultural obsession with the criminally deviant. Ed Gein didn’t just influence a genre, he became the blueprint for modern horror.
This is due to Gein admitting he dug up bodies from graveyards. He also made items and pieces of clothing from human skin. This is something it is clear the series will not shy away from as we see in one moment, Gein trying on a grotesque mask, with hair, which looks like it was made from one of his victims.

Netflix claims that Monster: The Ed Gein Story tells the story of how one simple man in Plainfield, Wisconsin became history's most singular ghoul. He revealed to the world the most horrific truth of all, that monsters aren't born, they're made...by us.
Anticipation is already building and fans have been quick to respond to the new trailer. One simply commented on YouTube: "The guy was the original Leatherface, and Bates, crazy."
Another added: "This looks way scarier than the first two seasons omgg." Someone else replied: "Charlie Hunnam looks so much like Ed Gein it’s eerie. Great casting."
One person responded on social media saying: "Sounds and looks chilling. Love seeing Charlie Hunnam take on the role."
Monster: The Ed Gein Story is streaming on Netflix from October 3.
