Rasmus Hojlund makes telling transfer decision amid Man Utd's Benjamin Sesko chase

RB Leipzig are reportedly interested in Rasmus Hojlund as a potential replacement for Benjamin Sesko, but the Manchester United striker does not want to join them. Sesko has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer.

Both United and Newcastle are interested in the 22-year-old, with the Magpies lodging an opening bid of just under £70million. United, meanwhile, are braced for protracted negotiations with Leipzig over Sesko.

There had been suggestions that United could win the race for Sesko by offering Hojlund to Leipzig as part of a swap deal. However, talkSPORT are reporting that Hojlund has 'made it clear he does not want to go there'.

The news comes after United boss Ruben Amorim admitted he cannot give any guarantees about Hojlund's future. Speaking after Hojlund scored in United's 4-1 win over Bournemouth in pre-season, Amorim said: "I'm really happy with Rasmus, but I don't know what is going to happen until the end of the market.

"The important thing is that the strikers who are here are working really well, they are improving, they are helping the team and that's the most important thing. The important thing is that Rasmus is scoring goals.

"He's connecting really well with the team. He's improving. Again, I don't know what is going to happen until the market is closed. We suffered a a lot because of the lack of goals last season. But I think not just the goals, but the way Rasmus connects the play.

"Every time we have to kick the ball, we are kicking the ball when we are more pressed. The ability for him to hold the defender and to connect in the support is helping us to play a lot better and we are playing better because he's playing better.

"I'm really happy with the players that we had last season. They are improving. We look like a different team today. Let's continue with that. I'm really happy with Bryan [Mbeumo], Matheus [Cunha], even Diego [Leon].

"You can see it. He's a smart guy. He's a guy that came from Paraguay to come to the Premier League. He's really powerful, so I'm really happy with the three guys."

Hojlund, though, appears keen to fight for his place at United and has insisted the signing of a new striker will "sharpen" him. "I think the most important thing for me is just to keep working hard and stay focused and then obviously we'll see what happens," he said.

"I think my plan is very clear and that's for me to stay and fight for my spot, whatever happens. Competition is fine with me, it sharpens me. I'm more than ready. I'm feeling sharp, so I'm welcoming everything that comes."
