TNT Sports had to apologise to viewers on Thursday night as their coverage of Manchester City vs Napoli was abruptly brought to a halt. The broadcaster was hit with technical difficulties during their pre-match build-up, as screens across the UK went blank.
In response, a statement from TNT Sports read: "We apologise for the technical difficulties. We return to Man City vs Napoli on TNT 2 shortly." Thankfully for UK-based viewers, live coverage of the event has now returned well ahead of the 8pm kick-off. However, it's not the first issue that some viewers have had with the broadcaster's coverage as of late.
A number of social media users took to X on Wednesday evening to vent about the sound quality provided by the broadcaster. One person wrote: "@footballontnt @virginmedia Why is the sound echoey on TNT Sports Ultimate? Sort it out please." Another added: "Why does Darren Fletcher sound like hes in a telephone box on TNT Sports," while a third said: "This TNT coverage of the snooker is not the one.
"Sound is like the mic is in the air conditioning and the score banner being constantly on and over the table is annoying."

A fourth, meanwhile, complained: "The sound on TNT Sport is ridiculous, volume going up and down. Been like this since the weekend. Well worth the extortionate price this."
It comes as City are play host to Napoli on Thursday evening, in their opening Champions League clash of the season. Pep Guardiola's charges will be hoping for more consistency in Europe after a mixed-bag of results in the Premier League, with two wins and two losses from their opening four.
It also marks Kevin De Bruyne's return to the Etihad Stadium after his departure this summer, joining Serie A champions Napoli. De Bruyne has impressed on Italian soil, with two goals from his first three appearances, and will hope to haunt his old club on Thursday evening.
Elsewhere in the Champions League, Newcastle United host to Barcelona, Eintracht Frankfurt play Galatasaray, and Sporting CP take on Kairat.
