Rakesh Kishore, the lawyer who threw a shoe at Chief Justice Gavai in the Supreme Court, said he has no regrets. He described his actions as an "action-reaction" to the September 16 decision that dismissed a petition related to a statue of Lord Vishnu. Kishore accused the Supreme Court of discrimination against Sanatan Dharma, citing the Nupur Sharma and Haldwani cases as examples, saying the court takes different stances in different cases.
Rakesh Kishore, the lawyer who threw a shoe at Chief Justice BR Gavai in the Supreme Court, said he has no regrets about his actions. He said his actions were merely a reaction to the action. He explained that he was hurt by the Chief Justice's decision on September 16.
On September 16, BR Gavai dismissed a petition seeking the restoration of the decapitated idol of Lord Vishnu at the Jawari Temple in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh, mockingly telling the petitioner to go and pray to the idol and ask it to restore its head. Rakesh Kishore said that the Supreme Court issues such orders when a case related to our Sanatan Dharma comes up. He said that the court should not grant relief to the petitioner, but it should also not ridicule him.
Speaking further, Rakesh said, "I was hurt by what he did... I wasn't drunk, it was my reaction to his actions." He also said, "I'm not scared. I have no regrets about what happened." He further claimed that the court discriminates against Sanatan Dharma and cited the example of Nupur Sharma.
Action is taken against Nupur Sharma, but when the matter of Sanatan comes up…Rakesh Kishore said that this same Chief Justice makes grand statements when it comes to matters of other religions. For example, he said that a particular community is occupying railway land in Haldwani. When an attempt was made to evict them, the Supreme Court imposed a stay, which remains in place to this day.
He further said that when the Nupur Sharma case came up, the court said, "You have spoiled the atmosphere." But when it comes to matters related to Sanatan Dharma, the Supreme Court does nothing. I am hurt by this.
