Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit India at the end of 2025, Interfax news agency reported on Thursday, quoting National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval, who is in Moscow.
“We were pleased to know about President Putin’s visit to our country. I think that the dates are almost finalized now. Summit-level meetings have always been watershed points for the relationship,” Doval told Russian Security Council chief Sergei Shoigu.
Sources said that the NSA is holding meetings with senior Russian officials to prepare details for Putin’s visit to New Delhi.
This will be Putin’s first visit to India since the Russia-Ukraine conflict began in 2022. And it assumes significance amid the stringent tariff actions against India by the US because of New Delhi’s oil purchases from Russia.
US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order imposing an additional 25% tariff on Indian goods in response to India’s continued purchases of Russian oil, effectively doubling the existing 25% levy and raising the total tariff on Indian imports to 50%.
