NatWest will shut down eight of its bank branches next week as part of a wider wave of closures throughout the rest of 2025. The bank has already confirmed that 105 branches are set to close this year-53 previously announced and 52 more added in a recent update.
The closures come as more customers move away from in-person banking. NatWest says more than 80% of its current account holders now use digital banking, with the majority of new accounts opened online. In total, 31 NatWest branches are scheduled to close in September, with the first eight shutting their doors next week. A statement on NatWest's website reads: "Banking has changed dramatically in recent years, with an increased demand for mobile and online services, as our customers benefit from a faster and easier way to bank."
It added: "Closing a branch is a decision we take very seriously. We know it can affect those less confident with the alternatives we offer. We'll always work hard to guide and support you through the changes and find the best way to serve you from now on."
