Dhankhars pack up, set to vacate Vice-President Enclave; to be allotted another bungalow

NEW DELHI: Just days after Jagdeep Dhankhar 's unexpected resignation as Vice-President, the family has begun packing their belongings. The Dhankhars' plan to move out of the Vice-President's Enclave , with relocation plans is already in motion, sources confirmed to PTI news agency on Wednesday.

The 74-year-old leader had shifted into the newly-built Vice President's Enclave on Church Road in April last year, a high-security zone near Parliament.

The residence, part of the Central Vista redevelopment plan, served as his official home and workplace for the past 15 months.

Now, with his term cut short due to health reasons, the former VP is preparing to transition into a new government bungalow , a Type VIII accommodation usually reserved for top Union ministers and national party chiefs -- most likely in Lutyens' Delhi .

"He (Dhankhar) will be allotted a suitable residence shortly," a senior urban development ministry official said.

Dhankhar stepped down from the country's second-highest office on Monday, submitting his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu .
