Bangladesh has submitted a request to Interpol, through the country’s police headquarters, to issue Red Notices against former PM Sheikh Hasina and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy in connection with ongoing corruption cases, reports Ahsan Tasnim.
On Thursday, the investigating officer of the cases sent two separate letters to the Bangladesh Police Headquarters, Interpol’s nodal agency in the country, saying Hasina and Joy remain abroad despite the issuance of arrest warrants by alocal court. Interpol Red notices are issued for fugitives wanted either for prosecution or to serve a sentence. The notice is a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.
